On 4Based you do the looking, not them
How to recognise a serious agency and what to ask in a first conversation is covered in 4Based Agency: What Is Negotiated Differently Here and in the basics for creators. This article turns the direction around: why should a good agency take you, and how do you get in at all?
Because on 4Based that is the more realistic question. On a global platform you get direct messages from agencies every week. On 4Based that hardly happens. The market is limited to the German-speaking region, and the number of agencies with real experience on this platform is manageable, most come from elsewhere and are still learning it.
For you that means two things. First: you have to be the active one, nobody is knocking. Second: the few good ones fill up quickly, and getting in means competing with other creators for a place. The selection runs in both directions, and anyone who only asks "will you take me?" is negotiating from the weakest position there is.
What speaks for you here, even with small reach
This is the good news, and it is platform-specific: on 4Based a small German-speaking community counts for more than a large international one. Exactly the reverse of the global platforms.
A German-speaking audience is a requirement here, not a bonus
The audience on 4Based is German-speaking and used to personal conversation. Bringing 30,000 largely international followers brings reach that only partly translates here. Bringing 3,000 from the DACH region who actually reply brings exactly what turns into revenue on this platform. Say so explicitly in the first message, many creators underestimate that this is their strongest argument.
You probably bring fans with you
Most people starting on 4Based are already active somewhere. That is not a flaw but leverage: an agency does not have to build your audience from zero. What matters is a realistic wording, not "I bring 10,000 fans", but "part of my German-speaking fans would come along". Announce too big and you lose the trust in month two.
The timing works in your favour
4Based is growing, and agencies establishing themselves here need creators in order to build experience. Anyone entering now negotiates in a market with less competition than on the established platforms, an advantage that will not be there in a year or two.
What a 4Based agency actually checks
Four points decide it, and follower count is not one of them. Knowing them in advance means you answer them yourself in a first conversation, and that alone sets you apart from most enquiries.
Does your community react?
A handful of genuine replies under a post says more than a five-figure follower count. What gets paid for in the end is the bond, not the reach, and exactly those people end up in the chat later.
How much time do you really have?
Naming a modest number of hours you can actually keep beats promising a big one you cannot. Agencies hear the difference because they have been through it often. "Ten hours a week, reliably" is a good offer.
How much content comes after?
This is the question most collaborations fail on after six weeks, not the chat. Work out beforehand what you can realistically produce per week, and name that number. Anyone who cannot name it becomes a problem case without noticing.
How do you reply?
How fast and how reliably you respond while things are still being arranged is a preview of the collaboration for the agency. Someone who goes quiet for days before signing does the same afterwards, and both sides know it.
We know who has room right now.
A sentence or two on Telegram is enough: what you do, how much time you have, what you are after. We match that against the agencies we work with on 4Based and come back with the two or three where it could actually fit. It costs you nothing.
What to have ready before the first conversation
Four figures, five minutes of preparation. Anyone going in with those comes across completely differently from someone who only asks whether there is still room.
How many followers and how many of them react regularly · what you earn so far, if you are already active · how much content you manage per week · how many hours you realistically have. Small numbers are fine too, small verifiable numbers beat large claims.
There is a fifth point that has nothing to do with numbers: your red lines. What you do not do, which content is off the table, what may happen with your face. Saying that early costs you no agency that fits you, and saves you the one that does not.
And one point specific to 4Based: the platform has a referral model under which income arises when further creators join through you. Who owns that income is in no standard contract, settle it before the first payment exists. The detail is in the negotiation article.
Why an introduction is faster than searching
On a small market the decisive information is not which agencies exist, you can find those. It is: who is taking creators on right now, and who fits you. And that is on no website.
An agency whose site says "we are looking for creators" wrote that eight months ago. Whether it has capacity today, whether the chat team is growing or currently overloaded, whether it suits your niche, you find that out after three emails, or not at all. Cold enquiries almost always land with whoever is advertising loudest, not with whoever fits best.
So the shortest route is usually through someone who knows the agencies and how things currently look there.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find an agency with 4Based experience?
Mostly through other creators already managed there, they know how it runs internally. The second route is an introduction, because the deciding question is not which agencies exist but which of them can take anyone on this month at all. We can handle that for you: drop a line to @user_flowde and we will ask around.
Do I need a lot of followers for an agency to take me?
No, and on 4Based especially not. Here a small German-speaking community that actually reacts counts for more than a large international one that only watches. The audience on this platform is German-speaking, reach from other language regions only partly translates.
What does a 4Based agency check about me?
Four things: whether your community reacts rather than only watches, how much time you realistically have, how much content comes after each week, and how reliably you reply. Follower count is none of them. Answering those four unprompted sets you apart from most enquiries immediately.
What should I prepare before the first conversation?
Four figures and one boundary: followers and how many of them react regularly, your earnings so far if any, your realistic content output per week, the hours you have available, and your red lines, meaning what is off the table for you. Small verifiable numbers beat large claims.
Is 4Based worth it if I am already active elsewhere?
For most people 4Based is not a replacement but a second footing for the German-speaking part of the audience. That you already bring fans is leverage, just word it realistically: not "I bring 10,000 fans", but "part of my German-speaking fans would come along".
Do I have to pay for an introduction?
No. We earn nothing from you and work with these agencies anyway. Independently of that, one simple rule holds across the industry: payment comes out of revenue, never before it. The moment somebody asks for a fee, a starter package or a deposit before anything is running, end the conversation.
